The microSD memory card's tiny size makes it the perfect choice for personal electronic devices such as your smartphone; however, this size may work against you when transferring the card to your computer to download business files or pictures. Many card readers do not support microSD cards, but nearly all readers support standard SD cards. To bridge this gap, SanDisk produces an SD card adapter that allows your computer to use the microSD card as if it were a standard-sized card.

1.

Slide the microSD card into the SanDisk adapter. The metal contacts on the microSD card should be inserted first, with the card and adapter labels facing the same direction.

2.

Slide the Lock slider to the 'Unlocked' position if you wish to enable write access for modifying or deleting files. If you only need to download files without deleting them from the card, it doesn't matter whether the card is locked or unlocked.

Locate the card reader on your computer. The card reader can be difficult to find on some laptops because it is often an inconspicuous slot on the front or side edge of the laptop. Desktop card readers are more obvious and usually contain multiple slots. Look for the 'SD' card slot. If your computer does not have a card reader, connect a USB card reader to a USB port on your computer to add one.

4.

Insert the adapter into the SD card slot on the card reader. There's no universal orientation, except that the metal contacts must be inserted first. The card might slide in label-side up or upside-down. If you don't have the manual, gently insert the card; if you encounter resistance, flip it over and try again.

5.

Click 'Open Folder to View Files' in the AutoPlay window. Doing so opens Windows Explorer to view the microSD card's contents.
