Kindle Reader For The Mac
You can read Kindle books on your Mac thanks to Amazon’s Kindle App but the Kindle for Mac page numbers system can be a bit confusing.
The reason is because it depends on whether the book you are reading includes page numbers as a feature. Strange as it sounds, not all Kindle books do.
Kindles use a text location based system for navigating books and the real pages numbers that appear in the print version are not always included as an option.
The Mac will open up the Kindle for Mac application, then hand it the PDF. As you’d hope, you can now read the doc within the Kindle app itself: The Kindle app also understands the table of contents in this particular PDF, but be warned: Not every PDF has a TOC so you might just be going page to page to page to find specific content on your own PDF. The Kindle app gives users the ability to read eBooks on a beautiful, easy-to-use interface. Here’s how to find if your book supports page numbers and how to show them on Kindle For Mac.
Firstly, it’s important to make sure you’re definitely using the latest version of the Kindle app.
You can download the Kindle Mac app here from Amazon to ensure that you’re up to date.
The best way to then check if a book includes the page number feature is by checking the Kindle Edition product detail page on the Amazon Kindle Store.
As you can see below, next to the “Length” bullet point, it will indicate whether the book has real pages with a note such as: “Contains real page numbers based on the print edition (ISBN 0307588378)”:
To then show the real page numbers on Kindle for Mac you can simply click Go To > Location and then just enter a page number at random. The page numbers will then appear at the bottom of the pages.
Alternatively, you can also make the page numbers appear on the Mac Kindle app by doing the following:

1. Open the book on your Kindle and press the Kindle Menu button
2. Change the View Style at the bottom of the book from Location or Reading Progress to Page Numbers
